The chapter 1. FC Köln closes for Timo Horn at the end of the season. As the billy goats announce, the goalkeeper’s expiring contract will not be extended. Horn wants to be number one again elsewhere.
The 29 year old says: “Leaving FC, as anyone can imagine, is incredibly difficult for me. I’ve been a fan of this club for as long as I can remember, I’ve been at FC since I played football and I’ve actually always been a goalkeeper here since I made my professional debut in 2012. That changed after my injury last season.”
Back then, Marvin Schwäbe replaced Horn in goal and has stayed between the posts ever since. In total, Horn played 329 times for the FC professionals, with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga twice. According to reports, he had received an offer for an extension with significantly reduced remuneration.
