The primary, open and simultaneous elections in the province of La Pampa closed this afternoon, and while the provisional vote count is being carried out, the PRO candidate, Martín Maquieyra, admitted his defeat at the hands of the radical Martín Berhongaray in the Juntos internal for the change.

“Thanks to everyone who joined us today and to all the team that worked hard these days. We had a great election and the important thing now is to go together for May 14,” the Macrista national deputy tweeted when admitting his defeat.

Martín Berhongaray carries a strong last name in pampas radicalism. He is the son of the former deputy and national senator for his province and later Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Nation, Antonio Berhongaray. The now candidate for governor for Together for Change is part of the internal line and is very close to Senator Martín Lousteau in the Radical Civic Union.

The Pampean Justicialista Front (FreJuPa), on the other hand, was with a single list and is represented by the current governor, Sergio Ziliotto, in formula with provincial deputy Alicia Mayoral.

Of the six lists presented, Together for Change was the only space that resolved its candidate in an internal one, which is why it became the main animator on electoral Sunday.

In fact, the main national referents of the opposition coalition closely followed the evolution of this election, the first of several provincial battles in which different factions of the alliance will face each other at the polls, amid undisguised internal tensions and problems for order the electoral offers.
