Macy's Fireworks Show is Ready

Macy’s Independence Day fireworks show returns to the West Side this year, lighting up along the Hudson River.

The exhibition begins around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.

And the workers continue to work against the clock in preparations for the big show.

This will be the first time since 2013 that the fireworks show will take place on the Hudson River, rather than the East River.

The barges with the projectiles will be located on the river, between 14th and 34th West Streets.

Police have already held a meeting to prepare for the crowds and keep attendees safe.

Hudson River Park also offers free tickets to view the fireworks from Pier 57, and those interested must obtain tickets for that event.

There will also be community fireworks celebrations this week in Coney Island, the Rockaways and Co-Op City in the Bronx.

Meanwhile, state officials are reminding New Yorkers of the importance of staying safe.

It is worth noting that buying fireworks in New York is illegal. More than 19,000 fires caused by fireworks are reported across the country each year.
