Malin Broberg received a majority of the votes.

She takes over from Eva Wiberg at an important stage when the work on our vision must continue, the plans for new buildings must be realized and our international relations must be strengthened, writes university board chairman Peter Larsson in a press release.
Malin Broberg takes up the position of rector on July 1. Now all that remains is for the government to make the formal decision.

The recruitment process was redesigned – following criticism
Thirteen teacher representatives have previously directed harsh criticism at the recruitment process. The criticism is not directed at Malin Broberg, but is based on the fact that they were not given any insight into the recruitment before there were only a few applicants left – something which, according to them, may have excluded relevant applicants.
The universities have a tradition of a board with great employee influence, which has given this issue attention both during this recruitment and when the current rector was appointed.
Peter Larsson, chairman of the board at the University of Gothenburg, told SVT Nyheter Väst on Thursday that they are taking the criticism to heart and that he wants to redo the recruitment process for future rector appointments.
