Miami Mayor Backs Venezuelan People Against Electoral Fraud

MIAMI.- Miami Mayor Francis Suárez, along with municipal commissioners, met with representatives of Venezuelan organizations in exile to confirm their support for the Venezuelan people and to repudiate the fraudulent result of last Sunday’s presidential elections, published by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which declared dictator Maduro the winner.

“What a terrible contrast it was yesterday to see so many people celebrating in the rain, with so much hope, with so much energy, with so much joy. And then to see the masquerade of the press conference (of the CNE) where they announced the results. It was like watching a movie, seeing the process of how an election was stolen, before our eyes,” said Suárez at a press conference at City Hall on Monday, July 29.

“We know what happened in the Commission for them to fabricate a result of 51.1% against 46 or 45%, when the opposition won by a margin of four to one. That is disgusting, it is repulsive how they invented the numbers.”

“They treat us like we’re stupid, like we don’t know math,” he said, and warned: “those people (the regime) will not have power unless something dramatic happens.”

“When a country is completely subjugated by a government that steals, it is incredibly difficult to take back power from your own country. We have seen this so many times in our hemisphere and in world history.”

The mayor of Florida’s largest city urged the Miami community to do everything possible to unite and fight as hard as possible “to impress upon our government (in the US) and all the governments in the region the importance of this momentous moment. This moment of transition.”

“If not today, when? When is it going to happen? When are we going to finally put an end to this fraud of communism and socialism? We already know that it doesn’t work. All it guarantees is misery and poverty, murder. That’s all it has produced in the history of mankind. Equality of oppression, equality of poverty and equality of political murder.”

He then reflected: “We have to do something. The US has to understand how critical this is, not just for Venezuela, it is fundamental for the US.”

“We must use all the intelligence, wisdom, technology and resources we have to solve this problem. I will be fighting for it,” promised the mayor, who was grateful for the opportunity to show his solidarity with the Venezuelan community.

Maria Teresa Morin, director of the US Command for Venezuela, expressed her blind faith in Maria Corina Machado and said that Venezuelans would continue to exert “civic pressure on the voting centers to use the minutes of the vote count as our tools to defend the vote.”

Morín expressed her gratitude for the support of the Venezuelan community in Miami and the international community.

“Especially the statement by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said he would demand a recount of the votes and expressed his concern about the result.”

Regarding the spontaneous protests taking place in the streets of Venezuela, Morín said that they are inevitable. “Venezuelans will not tolerate this fraud. Venezuelans today are different, they are tired, they have been through so much work and so much hunger that they are consumed by fear.”

“We are going to claim our victory and we are not going to allow it to be stolen from us, and we are going to defend it on any terrain,” he warned.

For his part, Commissioner Joe Carollo said that it was a “very sad day because of the fraud that was committed in the Venezuelan elections.”

“It is the worst fraud, the worst theft of any presidential election in the history of this hemisphere.”

Venezuelans have shown the world that this regime cannot continue. The world must help Venezuela to get it out of there one way or another.

Carollo stressed the importance of the press in this fight to inform the American and international press about the situation in Venezuela and raise awareness, “so that they know the reality of how these elections were stolen and why the United States must ensure that this regime has to go.”
