Yesterday we finally got to tell you what we think of the Asus ROG Ally (hint: it’s very positive). It’s basically a real portable gaming PC running Windows 11, which means you avoid the hassle and compromises of the Steam Deck (which runs Linux).

Microsoft have been involved in the production to help it run Windows as smoothly as possible, and the device also includes three free months of Game Pass Ultimate. This has led to the Xbox team now referring to the Asus ROG Ally as one “Game Pass Portable” on Xbox Wire.

A reasonable guess is that Microsoft continues to work with Asus to improve portable gaming and market the device to Xbox players, since they are now really hyping it up so much.
