After the update that triggered the blue screen of death on Windows 10, Microsoft has to deal with another very problematic bug. On Monday, January 2, users of the OneDrive storage service flocked to social networks to report a thorny problem. They are unable to access their files hosted in the cloud. When they log in, they encounter the following message: “Sorry… We encountered a problem. Try again or refresh the page”.

Unable to access OneDrive files stored online

And the service asks users to ensure that no firewalls or browser plug-ins are blocking access to the application. But according to the many reports on DownDetector and Twitter, the problem seemed much more global. Something that Microsoft finally confirmed later by responding to affected users:

“We are investigating an issue preventing some users from accessing or opening files from https://msft.it/6010ecr16. For more details and other updates, please see OC494006 in the admin center,” detailed the Redmond firm on Twitter. Finally, the company explained that it had found the source of the problem.

“We have determined that a recently enabled change in a specific application responsible for regulating access to the service is having an impact”, underlined the official Microsoft 365 Twitter account. And to ensure that a patch had been applied and that everything was back to normal. However, many users still report that the outage is still in progress and that they still do not have access to their files stored online…
