Migration film hits theaters with a story for the whole family

MIAMI.- This Christmas season, Illumination, creator of animated comedies Minions, Despicable Me, Sing y The Secret Life of Petsinvites you to fly into the excitement of the unknown with a fun and adventure-filled family vacation in the new film action-packed original, Migration.

The comedy tells the story of the family Mallard, a clan that is a bit stuck in a routine. While Dad Mack is content to keep his wife and children safe, swimming forever in their New England pond; Mom Pam is eager to change things up and show the rest of the world to her children, teenager Dax and baby Gwen.

After a family of migratory ducks arrives at their pond with exciting tales of faraway places, Pam convinces Mack to take a family trip, through the town of NY And till Jamaica.

But as the Mallards head south for the winter, their meticulous plans take unexpected turns.

The experience motivates them to expand their horizons, forge new friendships, and achieve more than they ever thought possible, while teaching them more about others—and themselves—than they ever imagined.

With a script written by Mike White, creator of The White Lotus, Emmy winner and screenwriter of School of Rock, The film stars a cast headed by Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick, Eternals) as Mack, the anxious father of the Mallard family; and Elizabeth Banks (Hunger Games y Pitch Perfect) as Pam, the sassy and resourceful Mallard matriarch.

Caspar Jennings plays Dax, the Mallards’ son who is very restless and self-assured; and in her film debut, Tresi Gazal plays Gwen, the innocent and adorable daughter of the family.

Likewise, Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) lends her voice to the brave leader of a gang of pigeons in New York City; Carol Kane (The Princess Bride) plays Erin, a heron who becomes the first friend the Mallards make on their trip; Keegan-Michael Key (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Lion King) gives voice to a nostalgic Jamaican parrot locked in a Manhattan restaurant; David Mitchell (Peep Show) plays the spiritual leader of a mysterious duck farm; and Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) also participates in the film as Dan, Mack’s grumpy uncle who avoids adventures.

Directed by Benjamin Renner, Migration features expressionistic visuals, Illumination’s signature witty humor and authentic emotions.
