Nacho Fernández has opened up about his future at Real Madrid. After yesterday’s Champions League game against Liverpool (5-2), the central defender explained: “Real have told me I can extend if I want to. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet.” The Spaniard elaborates: “It’s a very personal decision, a family decision.”

However, Nacho does not want to see his statements as an affront to his employer: “I don’t want to send a message to the club. My relationship with the club is very good. You will be the first to know my decision.” The homegrown Royal has been part of the professional squad since 2013 and has played 300 games for Blancos since then. The 33-year-old’s work paper in the Spanish capital ends in the summer.
