New police officers will join the security of Cancun

Reaching a total of 52 new elements, the Municipal police continues recruiting people to reinforce prevention and surveillance work in the Public Security operational area, in the city of Cancun.

Luis Alfonso Camal Sánchez, director of the Police Academyexplained that it will be the first week of May, 2023, when a group of 30 people will leave ready and prepared to join the ranks of the municipal police corporation.

“We have 30 people in initial training, they have just been registered as elements police and that they are in their process as preventive police. These new elements will be incorporated the first week of May,” he said.

He added that in December 2022 22 elements graduated, plus the 30 for this year, add up to 52 policemen Of 150 vacancies, 98 are missing and they seek to fill during this 2023.

“There are 98 vacancies left, in addition, there is already approval of 150 more, the goal is 150 this year and another 150 next year, we are going little by little,” he commented.

The formation

The director of the Police Academy He stressed that during the training of the new agents they emphasize the behavior of the police and that each person decides what type of officer they want to be.

“The one who commits to the uniform and citizenship or the one who breaks the rules. What we try to instill are the principles that govern the police career, ”he said.

He explained that they teach them all the police skills, first responder, weapons and police shooting, detention, human rights, gender perspective and 30 subjects, including two that they attached, the culture of the disability and civility.

“All subjects are marked by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security Systembut we have added two more subjects,” he said.

There is already a new group

Luis Alfonso announced that the next initial training group is scheduled to start in September and pointed out that the process is slow, one of the reasons is that few want to enter Public security due to fear or lack of information.

“They think that they will go to the office when it is not like that, they hear that there will be persecution, but this is so, it is a profession of life, where there is always risk. They do not pass the evaluations, ”she assured.
