Night shift for medical care and surgical days, they analyze in Health

In order to improve the attention of the public health service, the Government of Santiago Peña analyzes the possibility of implementing a night shift for medical attention and in addition to carrying out surgical days for scheduled surgeries.

In an interview with the Fuego Cruzado program broadcast by GEN/Nación Media, the Minister of Health, Maria Teresa Baranindicated that among the immediate measures to be adopted in the State portfolio will be to solve the bottlenecks that occur in health services.

In this sense, he advanced that It is intended to enable a night shiftbecause many times the population works 12 hours and does not have time to consult during the day, so this option will allow citizens to go to hospitals in their free time.

He also indicated that in some hospitals there is a long queue waiting list with respect to what are the scheduled surgeries. Thus It is planned to form teams of surgical professionals to carry out intervention days. “We are going to operate on a certain number of people for a whole weekend, so that in the short term we can reduce those long waiting lines for scheduled surgeries,” he explained.

Another of the main challenges will be to guarantee the provision of medicines in all health centers. “We are already trying to supply all the hospitals with some of all these basic medicines,” he said, noting that they mostly expect provide these supplies to the Family Health Unitsso that people go there and not all crowd into the reference hospitals.

“Many times the person says why am I going to go to the Family Health Unit if I am going to see the doctor and he is going to give me a prescription but I am not going to be able to buy the medicine. Historically there is always greater access either at the Regional Hospital or at the District Hospital, so automatically the person stops going to the Family Health Unit and goes to the Regional hospital and that causes the service to become overloaded, ”he argued.

“If we make sure that the patient can access the family health unit and that they can leave with their medication, that will also greatly decompress the other health services in the Ministry of Health network,” he added.

Another great challenge will be to improve the quality of public spending and control care. For this, work is being done with Taiwan on an integrated computer system, with which it will be possible to have the traceability of medicines and it will also be possible to control the productivity of doctors.

On the other hand, he clarified that Public Health will not absorb the IPSRather, the plan is to articulate efforts to offer a better service in places where one of the institutions has deficiencies.
