Finally it was time again! As part of a new Nintendo Direct, the Japanese console manufacturer and publisher set the direction for the Nintendo Switch in 2023. The hybrid console saw on March 02, 2017 the light of the world and will soon be in the seventh year of its life cycle. Since a console year corresponds to about 10 human years, the switch is already considered “old iron”. But apparently Nintendo is by no means thinking about retiring the flagship in the foreseeable future.

Nintendo Direct: Two Metroid classics are coming to the Switch

The new Nintendo Direct should have been worthwhile, especially for fans of the fantasy scifi franchise Metroid. Two classics with the seemingly one-armed bounty hunter Samus Aran were announced.

With Metroid II – Return of Samus appears the classic version of the 2D Metroid Vanias from the year 1991 for Game Boy Online on Nintendo’s paid online service. Thanks to various filters you will classic in the look of the original Game Boy, which can play the Game Boy Pocket and the Game Boy Color.

Furthermore Metroid Prime Remastered announced. The new edition of the Game Cube hit from 2002 has been given revised graphics and offers various control options. That Nintendo does not equal the whole trilogy of the popular Prime series in a polished version is disappointing.

Metroid II – Return of Samus is available now as part of Nintendo Online. The digital version of Metroid Prime Remastered also. It costs a whopping $39.99 on the Nintendo eShop. Who prefers his collection a physical version of the game will have to wait until Friday, March 03, 2023.
