In the qualifying round, wins are mandatory.

The cracks from EC Bregenzerwald had to start the qualifying round without any bonus points because they were no longer competitive at the end of the regular season due to the absence of several top performers due to injury and illness. But now the woods have to deliver, because of the five teams in each of the two qualifying groups, only the top three make it into the pre-playoff after a first and second round, and the season is over for the remaining four teams.

First points in the dry

In the first game, captain Richard Schlögl & Co. were able to score two points. In the future team of Klagenfurter AC, coach Markus Juurikkala’s men won 2-1 after a penalty shoot-out. Defender Bernhard Fechtig equalized the 0:1 deficit (8th) in minute 31, after that there were no more goals and Julius Nyqvist sunk the decisive penalty in the shootout.

The second game in the qualifying round for EC Bregenzerwald is scheduled for next Saturday, January 28th. From 7.30 p.m., HC Meran, against whom they suffered two defeats in the regular season, will be guests in the Dornbirn exhibition ice rink.
