After winning the Golden Globe for best foreign film, the film “Argentina, 1985” was nominated for the 2023 Oscars. The national cinema competes to obtain a new award, after obtaining it with “The Official Story” and the “Secret Of their eyes”.

The gala in which all the nominees for the 2023 Oscar Awards will be announced began. “Argentina, 1985” hopes to find out if it is among the nominated productions in the Best Non-English Language Film category. The film directed by Santiago Miter and starring Ricardo Darín together with Peter Lanzani won a Golden Globe in the same category two weeks ago. The ceremony organized by the Hollywood Film Academy will take place on Sunday March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
National cinema obtained this award with the films “La Historia Oficial” by Luis Puenzo in 1986 and “El Secreto de tus Ojos” by Juan José Campanella in 2009. “Argentina, 1985” by Santiago Miter can be consecrated again and obtain the award for best foreign film this year.
The film, which was the most viewed of 2022 in national theaters, also obtained nominations at the Goya and the Critics’ Choice Awards. The historical drama had a wide tour of international festivals since its premiere in theaters on September 29, such as the Venice Festival, the San Sebastián Festival -where it won the Audience Award-, the BFI Film Festival of London and the Rio International Film Festival, among others.
