Peru's Congress delegates legislative functions to the Government for 90 days

LIMA.- The plenary session of the Congress of Peru On Monday, the House of Representatives approved in a second vote a law that delegates legislative functions to the Government for a period of 90 days to facilitate the approval of measures in the area of ​​economy and citizen security as requested by the president, In Boluarte.

The proposal was approved by 58 votes in favour, 40 against and 16 abstentions.

The President of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianzén, stressed that the delegation “will help the country move forward” in a message on X. “Now the Executive begins the hard work to develop the legislative decrees already announced, taking into account the Government’s priorities: economic reactivation and citizen security,” he said.

Adrianzén argued that the objective of this measure is to boost economic recovery, simplify processes and reform the management of business activity. In addition, it is intended to improve efficiency in tax collection and strengthen the fight against tax evasion and avoidance.

The law delegates to the Executive Branch the power to legislate on matters of economic reactivation, simplification and regulatory quality, state business activity, citizen security and national defense.

The president of the Constitution and Regulations Committee of Congress, Martha Moyano (Fuerza Popular), supported the Executive’s request, but clarified that 66 of the 105 requested powers have been granted.
