Sonora, Mexico.- Víctor Hugo Valdez, commander of the Cajeme Police, in Sonora, was shot to death this Saturday while driving his vehicle south of that Municipality.
Valdez was attacked by two subjects who were traveling on a motorcycle, according to preliminary reports.
This, when he was going to the Command, on CTM street corner with Michoacán, in Colonia Aves del Castillo.
Neighbors in the area called the emergency number to report the shooting.
Paramedics from the Red Cross and elements of the corporation confirmed that it was the police commander, in charge of the barracks known as Ussi Sur.
Just last Tuesday, the entity’s Secretary of Public Security, María Dolores del Río Sánchez, went to Cajeme to implement the Jornadas por la Paz program, which Valdez was in charge of in that municipality, 252 kilometers from Hermosillo.
Until now, no authority in Sonora has ruled on this violent act.

The officer, known as “Navarritos”, died instantly, as did his escort, Jorge Alberto Galindo Ayón, alias “El Gato”, inside patrol car 298.
Local reports indicated that the attack took place when both were driving along Calle Sinaloa, on the corner with Calle Mayo, in Colonia Urbazanizable 4.
Security elements arrived at the point after the report, finding two lifeless bodies and more than fifty shotgun casings.
