Las Vegas police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting and killing of rapper Tupac Shakur nearly three decades ago, the Associated Press reported on Friday, citing unnamed sources.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested early Friday morning, though the exact charge or charges were not immediately clear, according to the AP, which said he would be arraigned later Friday.

Reuters could not confirm the AP report or reach Davis or his legal representatives.

Shakur was injured on September 7, 1996 and died in a hospital six days later at the age of 25.

Davis admitted in interviews and in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” that he was in the Cadillac from which the shots that wounded Tupac were fired, the AP said.

Shakur was a rapper, activist and actor who sold over 75 million records worldwide.

The arrest comes after Nevada police executed a search warrant in July in connection with the unsolved killing of rapper Tupac Shakur.
