President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 during a test conducted during his stay in Las Vegas after experiencing mild symptoms of the disease, the White House said.

Biden is experiencing mild symptoms, including a runny nose, nonproductive cough and general malaise, but is vaccinated and boosted, an official statement said.

The statement said the president will return to Delaware, where he will isolate himself in accordance with CDC guidelines for symptomatic individuals and continue to fully perform all of his duties from his home in Rehoboth.

The White House will provide regular updates on his status as he continues his Presidential responsibilities during isolationunderlines the information, posted on X.

In a statement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the president tested positive “after his first event in Las Vegas” and recalled that Biden had already scheduled his return to Delaware after his trip to that city in Nevada.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, explained that the Biden’s symptoms began with upper respiratory problems.

Despite feeling like she could continue with her schedule, she decided to undergo a COVID-19 test when her symptoms did not improve, which came back positive.

He was then given a first dose of Paxlovid, a drug known to reduce the chances of hospitalization or death in cases of COVID-19.

The medical report states that Biden has no fever, his respiratory rate is normal, his temperature is 97.8°F and his pulse oximetry is 97%.

Biden, 81, has maintained a full schedule in Nevada this week amid fresh concerns about his health and abilities following his debate performance with former President Donald Trump in late June.

However, he says that he has been in politics for almost 60 years and that no one is more qualified than him to govern the country.

In 2022 Biden also gave positive for Covid-19.
