The man behind the laptop with the blond hair became a cult among German NFL fans: At the Super Bowl, Christoph “Icke” Dommisch was in action for “ran football” for the last time – and was overwhelmed by his feelings.
Emotions ran high at the end: The end of the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles also meant the temporary end of American football at ProSiebenSat.1. RTL had recently secured the NFL rights from the coming season. When the “ran” team said goodbye to the commentators’ booth in Arizona, Christoph nicknamed “Icke” Dommisch cried. While presenter Jan Stecker spoke the last words into the camera, his sidekick was overwhelmed by emotions.
When Dommisch was asked to say goodbye to the audience, he wept and struggled for words. “Now you have to deliver,” joked “Coach” Patrick Esume. “Icke” explained in tears: “I’m trying, I’m trying … it’s going to be difficult. I can only say thank you … but it doesn’t work.”

“Those were eight wonderful years”
After he had collected himself for a while, Dommisch started again: “I take my hat off. I wouldn’t have ended up here if so many people hadn’t been in the mood for this show.” His position had not previously existed on German television, “and I don’t think it was relevant either.” The cult commentator addressed the TV audience directly: “And if you hadn’t celebrated like that, I wouldn’t be sitting here today.” The many people who followed “ran NFL” would have changed his life.
Finally, “Icke” thanked the director of the show. They had shown “a lot of courage” “that they put such a shaggy person on television”. Greetings also went to a former commentator: “Frank Buschmann also did a lot for me here at the beginning.” In the end, the conclusion remains for Dommisch: “They were eight wonderful years. You always see each other twice in life.”
In terms of sport, the NFL era at ProSieben ended with one of the most spectacular finals in recent years: the Kansas City Chiefs beat Philadelphia by a narrow margin of 38 to 35 and were crowned NFL champions.
