This topic has been going viral on social media platforms for days: Footballer Achraf Hakimi and his wife, Spanish actress Hiba Abouk, want to divorce. So far, so clear.

The central excitement of the story, however, is now the widespread rumor that Abouk suffered a bitter defeat when she wanted to fight for half of her husband’s fortune. Because it came to light that the footballer would let his considerable fortune run through his mother’s name – Abouk would therefore not get a cent.

While this “divorce trick” is presented as factual on the internet, upon closer inspection it reveals many inconsistencies. We have broken down the whole divorce chaos for you.

The history

The couple first became the focus of media interest in early March. At the time, Abouk was on vacation with his two children. According to a 24-year-old woman, the Moroccan national football player raped her while he was away.

An investigation has been launched against Hakimi. Almost at the same time, Abouk filed for divorce. The application was initially interpreted by the public as a logical consequence of the serious allegations against the PSG star. This connection was subsequently denied by the actress.

In an Instagram story, Abouk explains that the decision to divorce the former couple had been made some time before the proceedings were initiated.

The rumor mill

As the divorce progressed, the rumor mentioned above about Hakimi’s “divorce trick” spread in the gossip press and then on social media.

User reactions can be summarized as follows: Hakimi is hailed as a kind of hero who would have revolutionized the “divorce game”. and fortunately could protect himself from his “greedy wife”.

Abouk is mainly accused of being a “gold digger”, i.e. a person who only got involved in the relationship because of wealth.

But what’s up with the rumour?

The fact check

The origin of the story is extremely opaque. Because like funk in one Instagram-Post shows all articles, including those from “Bild”, refer to a dubious-looking French-language online magazine without a website. The whole story is probably based on a tweet without a source.

Hakimi and Abouk have also not taken a clear position on the wildfire of rumors surrounding their divorce.

If the story is true anyway, Hakimi’s actions would most likely be illegal. Because no matter how you twist and turn the supposed maneuver, it would not be allowed under French or Swiss law.
