Queen Charlotte, the long-awaited new series from Netflix, goes live on Thursday, May 4. In this prequel to The Bridgerton Chronicle, we discover a new universe of the series. But is it necessary to have seen the first series to watch this spin-off?
Since the broadcast of its season 2 on Netflix, The Bridgerton Chronicle (which will be entitled to a season 3!) has succeeded in retaining an audience that revels in this half-realistic, half-fictional series, depicting the Court of Great Britain and the rapprochements of its subjects under the reign of Queen Charlotte. The originality of the series lies in the differences it makes with History because, and this is a very good surprise, the English court is not exclusively white as usual in this kind of series. The youth of some main characters
While the first two chapters of Bridgerton evade this question, Queen Charlotte seizes the subject by placing on the shoulders of the queen the destiny of an entire people and their accession to nobility. In this prequel, which presents a little more seriousness than in the original series, we find Queen Charlotte, the central character of the series. The Bridgerton Chronicle who makes and breaks unions, gives his blessing or not and allows the English nobility to continue to endure. This time, we discover her at the age of 17 (in the guise of India Amaerteifio) and we follow her accession to the throne of England, with more or less difficulty. Among the other main characters, Lady Agatha Danbury (Arsema Thomas) whose youth, unhappy marriage and fights to win her title are discovered. But also the young Violet who will become Lady Bridgerton.

If it is not necessary to have seen the first two seasons of Bridgerton, there are several nods to the series that won’t go unnoticed by insiders. In addition to the characters, the whole Bridgerton universe radiates in Queen Charlotte: the palaces, the sets, the costumes… And still one of Bridgerton’s great successes: the reinterpretation of great hits (like Who run the world (Girls) of Beyoncé) by chamber orchestras.
