Rayma joins Venezuelan artists calling for voting on July 28

MIAMI.- Journalist and cartoonist Rayma sent a message to the Venezuelans urging them to exercise their right to vote in the presidential election on Sunday, July 28. In this way, it joins a large number of Venezuelan artists who have invited their followers not to lose hope and go out to vote.

Through a video posted on Instagram, the activist reminded her followers that many Venezuelans have had to migrate, losing the opportunity to exercise their right. She therefore invited those who are in Venezuela not to hesitate to go to the voting centers.

“VOTE for all of us who are abroad and cannot exercise this right to change. VOTE and fight for EVERYONE. Rayma,” reads the text that accompanies the audiovisual.

Message from the cartoonist

“You vote, I vote… No, I cannot vote, like millions of Venezuelans who are abroad and who follow with our hearts everything that is happening in Venezuela,” he said at the beginning of his message.

Like other artists outside the South American nation, Rayma highlighted the importance of the political and social moment that the country is currently experiencing, and noted that in order to achieve the change that has been sought for decades, it is important to remain united on Sunday.

“I cannot vote, but you can make sure that this vote on Sunday the 28th represents us in the change that we want; in the beautiful country that we long for and are determined to recover, free and democratic.”

He also asserted that voting is not only the key to freedom for political prisoners or for exiles and migrants to be reunited with their families; it is also the responsibility that we have on behalf of those who lost their lives fighting for freedom.

“Your vote is everyone’s vote. Your vote is the key that opens the doors of political prisoners, that opens the doors of Maiqueta so that families can be reunited, so that we can all return and hug each other, and celebrate the end of this nightmare. Your vote is the country and at the same time you are yourself. Vote for me, for those who are here and for those who left along the way fighting for this change.”

“Vote so that this love and this hope can reach the end of a more just country with opportunities. Vote early and celebrate being part of the best day of the rest of our lives. The day that Venezuela woke up and, like when we were little, vote and fight for everyone. I love you,” he concluded.
