The new sports management of Hertha BSC is working flat out to strengthen the squad for a difficult relegation battle. As the ‘Bild’ reports, Tolga Cigerci could also return to the Berliners. Hertha are working hard to sign the 30-year-old.
The midfielder switched from Turkish first division club Basaksehir to Süper Lig competitor Ankaragücü on a free transfer in the summer. He is the captain of the capital club and is regularly on the pitch for more than 90 minutes. His contract runs until 2024.
Cigerci comes from the youth of VfL Wolfsburg and was already active for Hertha between 2013 and 2016. In total, the four-time Turkish international played 41 times for the Berliners.
How many new ones are coming?
The 30-year-old shouldn’t be the only newcomer to Hertha. However, the search is complicated. None of the candidates traded in the past few days are left. Theo Bongonda (27) from FC Cádiz has canceled according to ‘Bild’. Marvin Friedrich (27) from Borussia Mönchengladbach, who was also traded, will stay with the foals, according to ‘Sky’.
