Republican and Democratic politicians condemn attack on Donald Trump

MIAMI.- Following the attack on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, from which he is recovering, Republican and Democratic politicians have condemned this act of violence.

Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio responded on social media with the message: “God protected President Trump.”

Maria Elvira Salazar also entrusted Trump’s health to God, as he seeks to return to the White House in the elections on November 5.

“We are praying to the Lord Almighty for President Trump. We pray for his safety and well-being in the Name of Jesus. God bless President Trump in this hour!”

Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., posted an X-rated photo of Trump, fist raised and bloodied face in front of an American flag, with the words: “He will never stop fighting to save America.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson posted on X that he was praying for Trump.

US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he was “horrified” by the incident at a Donald Trump rally on Saturday, where the Republican was rushed away with his face covered in blood after what appeared to be gunshots.

“I am horrified by what happened at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania and relieved that former President Trump is safe. Political violence has no place in our country,” Democrat Schumer wrote on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, said in a statement on X that he had been briefed on the situation and that Pennsylvania State Police were present at the event site.

“Violence directed against any political party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable. It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States,” he said.

President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident, according to the White House.

As he left church in Rehoboth Beach, President Joe Biden simply replied, “No,” when asked if he had been briefed on the incident.
