Almost two years after the release of Resident Evil Village, Capcom is finally backtracking on a feature that is very unpopular with players who will finally benefit properly from their purchase.

Resident Evil Village has revived thanks to an excellent PSVR 2 version for a striking result. A huge novelty and completely free, if you have the basic game of course, which is not the only one. In its own corner, Capcom has heard the many complaints from RE Village buyers.

Denuvo, the DRM from hell, removed from Resident Evil Village

PC gamers from Resident Evil Village will be able to blow a big blow and fully enjoy the game, almost two years after the initial release. The page SteamDB of the title makes an important revelation: the Denuvo solution has been permanently withdrawn. But what is it exactly? A DRM (Digital Rights Management or Digital Rights Management) which aims to fight against piracy. If the approach can be agreed, piracy being illegal and Capcom not wishing to blow up sales of Resident Evil Village, the option chosen is more difficult to justify given its consequences.

Indeed, for many years now, Denuvo technology has been systematically singled out by PC gamers. And for good reason, this technique leads to complications that should not happen. With Denuvo DRM enabled, Resident Evil Village – like other games – struggles to run. No matter your setup, sometimes it’s a disaster. Resident Evil 2 Remake already fell victim to this, and after the removal, players saw a boost in fps. Not a huge leap, but a difference nonetheless.

It remains to be seen to what extent this abandonment will be beneficial or not, but what is certain is that it can only be better. Even with a “tiny improvement”. And then it may help boost sales of Resident Evil Village because some players do not hesitate to do without various games because of this barrier which, ultimately, encourages them to bend the rules…

Pendant on planet Resident Evil 4 Remake

This feature amputation may be coming too late for some who prefer to prioritize the very recent Resident Evil 4 Remake. An episode which is not free from defects either on PC unfortunately, as on consoles by the way. In his technical analysis, Digital Foundry noted crashes, problems with the quality of graphics, strange textures or even problems with the ray-tracing functionalities when they are activated.

Other identified bugs can block any progress or even erase the save permanently. But of course, it’s not an exact science and some will be able to complete the adventure without too much trouble. Capcom is aware of the few weaknesses and will improve its copy over the weeks and months. In recent days, RE4 Remake received the Mercenaries mode for free. A DLC leaves the campaign, despite the reuse of environments and other things, essentially based on pure and hard scoring. The principle being to survive increasingly powerful waves of enemies and achieve the best possible score in the allotted time, which can be extended with bonuses on the cards.
