The photojournalist Vicente Gil, an experienced cameraman with more than thirty years of experience working for RTVE, lost his life last Wednesday in the waters of Calahonda (Granada). His colleagues from the Canal 24 horas and La 1 newscasts were responsible for broadcasting the news to close out the main editions this Thursday.
Gil, who had covered all kinds of news for Informe Semanal and other programmes on the channel, was filming an underwater report between the beaches of Rijana and Calahonda itself when he began to feel ill. Once the medical services arrived at the indicated location, they rescued the reporter and took him to the beach. For just under an hour they performed pulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on him, although the paramedics They were only able to certify the death of Vicente Gil.
