The National Civil Protection System will maintain its preventive presence in religious activities that take place in the department of Sonsonate, as part of the 2023 Summer Plan.
One of the main cities with the presence of the institutions of the National Civil Protection System has been the municipality of Sonsonate, where religious activities are one of the main tourist attractions in the country; Given this, the director of the Fire Department, Baltazar Solano, reported that a permanent team is maintained in order to protect the attending citizens.
“We, as the National Civil Protection System, have in each of the activities a command post with the different institutions and with the resources that are necessary to generate that response, in case there is some type of incident. At this moment we are fulfilling the mandate of President Bukele, anticipating the facts and working in an articulated manner with all the institutions”, the official stated.
The Government of President Bukele has deployed more than 100,000 people throughout the country, providing coverage to all Salvadoran tourist and recreation sites; as well as giving security and peace of mind to families who decide to remain in the religious activities of Holy Week, in each of the municipalities.
Within the framework of the Summer Plan, the Civil Protection Directorate has made a territorial deployment through departmental and municipal delegates, with the Operational Tactical Teams, who are pending any need in terms of pre-hospital care; to them, the work of the Fire Department of El Salvador is added.
Thanks to the security strategies, which are implemented with the Territorial Control Plan and the exception regime, more tourists attend religious activities, including the procession of the Holy Burial of Sonsonate, where thousands of people come to commemorate this type of tradition. .
According to the projections of the Ministry of Tourism, for this holiday period the entry of more than 78,000 foreign tourists from Guatemala, the United States and Honduras is expected. “Satisfied with everything that is happening in this historic Holy Week thanks to the security we have had, the cultural and natural tourist destinations have had a significant influx, we are calculating approximately 500,000 visitors and we have already had 300,000 tourists only in our tourist centers public”, explained the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez.
