There are foods that increase satiety and help with the slimming process. And there are others with the opposite effect, they make hunger come back faster. If your goal is weight loss, it is worth avoiding or moderating consumption of the second group.

To lose kilos it is necessary to achieve a caloric deficit, the ideal is to eat with quality, making more nutritious choices. Nutritionist Isaac Nunes, who works in Brasília, highlights, for example, oats, brown rice, legumes, granola and couscous as foods that provide satiety and accelerate metabolism.

“Weight loss happens when you consume fewer calories than you expend in the day. To lose a pound of fat you need to burn 7,000 calories. There are foods that have little fiber or a lot of sugar, they make hunger come back faster”, explains Nunes.

Here is a list of foods that hinder weight loss:

1. Croissant

Croissant puff pastry has a high butter content and is consequently very greasy. “It has little fiber and a lot of fat. It makes you feel hungry faster compared to healthier foods.”

2. French fries

Potato is an extremely versatile food and can be used in healthy preparations. However, frying it in oil and adding salt reduces the nutritional quality and increases the caloric value. Just like the croissant, the french fries offer little satiety, which will make you eat more than you should.

3. White rice

The logic is: the more fibers, the longer the time without feeling hungry. “In 100 grams, brown rice has 2.7 grams of fiber. As for white rice, only 1.5 grams. Always prefer brown rice”, suggests Nunes.

4. cornflakes

That cereal first thing in the morning might not be a good idea if your goal is weight loss. Because it has a lot of sugar in its composition, cornflakes are absorbed very quickly by the body, which makes you more hungry.

5. Yogurt

Low-fat yogurts are welcome in the diet, but contain almost no fiber. “The ideal is to combine a low-fat yogurt with foods that provide greater satiety, such as oatmeal, granola or fruit”, recommends the expert.
