Several injured in stabbing in German town, police report

BERLIN.- — A person armed with a knife attacked and injured several people in a square in the southwestern German city of Mannheim on Friday, police said. The authorities shot the attacker, who was also wounded.

The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m., police said, but they said they could not immediately provide further details on the extent of the injuries or the number of injured. Among the victims was a police officer.
