Scream was one of last year’s big hits and now another sequel is coming soon. Strictly chronologically, last year’s film was the fifth in the franchise, but as you know, it was called Scream, in short. A lot of people thought it was confusing, as the debut film had the same title, but with Scream VI you return to the previous setup.
We already know that the film will take place in New York and that the survivors of the last battle return, including Courtney Cox. Hayden Panettiere from Scream 4 makes a comeback and among the new faces we find, among others, Samara Weaving and Dermot Mulroney.
Moving the action to New York will mean getting a completely different dynamic in the film and this is what Melissa Barerra and Courtney Cox say about the decision:
“These kids are running away, and Ghostface is still finding them in the most beautiful city but also the most terrifying because it’s so crowded and it can be aggressive.”
“Bringing Ghostface to New York adds an entirely new element to the story. Taking the character out of a small town and putting them in the heart of the city that never sleeps is more terrifying than ever.”

Scream VI opens in theaters March 10.
