She was 82 years old – Hollywood star Raquel Welch is dead

Hollywood beauty Raquel Welch († 82) is dead. Her management announced this. The actress died on Wednesday morning after a “brief illness,” it said.

Welch was THE sex symbol in Hollywood in the 1960s and was even named one of the “100 sexiest stars in film history” by “Empire” magazine in 1995. In Playboy, she took third place in the “100 Sexiest Stars of the 20th Century”.

She owed the title mainly to her role in the 1966 film “One Million Years BC” in which she showed herself in a tight bikini made of deerskin – and thus became a sex symbol overnight. After that, she celebrated numerous cinema successes.

But the beautiful actress could do much more than pose sexy for the camera: She was twice nominated for a Golden Globe and won the prestigious award in the musical/comedy category in 1975 for her performance in The Three Musketeers with Faye Dunaway and Charlton Heston in the leading roles.

In 2012 she told “ The Post“On my first day of shooting, Faye Dunaway came to me all dressed up and she was so sweet. She said, ‘Darling, I just want to tell you that I’m a huge fan of yours. But don’t you know they’re all just waiting for us to tear each other’s eyes out. So let’s have fun with them.’”

During her career she worked with other Hollywood greats such as James Stewart (“Bandolero”), Frank Sinatra (“Lady in Cement”), John Huston (“Myra Breckinridge”) and Burt Reynolds (“The Walker”) .

Lucky on screen, unlucky in love: Welch has been married four times over the course of her life. In 1959, she tied the knot with her high school love. However, the marriage only lasted five years. She was married to producer Patrick Curtis from 1967 to 1972 and to French-American filmmaker Andre Weinfeld from 1980 to 1990.

In 1999 she married producer Richard Palmer, with whom she has two children, Tahnee and Damon Welch. The couple divorced in 2004.
