Shoigu decorates Russian soldiers fighting in the Ukrainian war

Moscow, Aug 5 (EFE).- The Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, today decorated Russian soldiers fighting on the Liman front, in eastern Ukraine, and asked them how many German Leopard tanks they had destroyed.

As reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense on its Telegram channel, where it posted a video of the ceremony, the holder also delivered weapons with personal inscriptions to the most prominent soldiers.

“I congratulate you for these well-deserved decorations. I am sure that in the future you will continue to serve our country and our cause with faith and self-sacrifice. Cheers, victory, and may everyone return home alive,” he said.

In addition to awarding Orders for Valor and St. George’s Crosses, Shoigu presented the most prominent military men with Yarigin “Grach” pistols with personal inscriptions.

During the conversation with the soldiers after the ceremony, the head of Russian Defense asked if any of the recipients had destroyed or captured enemy war equipment and asked if they had seen German Leopard tanks in the area of combat.

The commander of the group, Lieutenant General Andrei Mordvichev, killed by the Ukrainians in March last year, replied that the Leopards have not reached this area of the front, but that he expected their early appearance.

“Our boys hit them hard, and it may be that they don’t even get here,” Shoigu said sardonically.EFE
