Munich – your heart’s desire is in danger of failing!

During their lifetime, the star magicians Siegfried Fischbacher († 81) and Roy Horn († 75) sold the rights to film their lives to Germany’s star producer Nico Hofmann (63). And wished that only he would produce the film.

But now the million dollar project that Hofmann has been working on for more than five years and for which he needs 40 million euros is in danger of failing. He lacks 10 million euros for the implementation!

Nico Hofmann has sleepless nights. He to BILD: “For me, the film is like a legacy. Siegfried approved the screenplay shortly before his death.”

His company, Ufa, has not yet given up on the project. “We will now hold talks with a German distributor at the Berlinale.”

One last glimmer of hope. The film rights expired at the end of 2022 – in the USA, streaming services are now outdoing each other with their own productions about the magician duo.

This is exactly what Siegfried & Roy wanted to prevent. Reason: the star magician duo was worried that his private life would be exploited. For example, that there is wild speculation as to whether the two were not only stage partners, but also lovers.

According to BILD information, this topic repeatedly caused discussions between the magicians and the Ufa production. After many rejected drafts, they then agreed on a screenplay without a love life. Penned by Bully Herbig.

In America, however, there are no approved screenplays. The producers are free. BILD learned: A US production company is working on a documentary in which the secret private life of the magicians is to be illuminated. It should also be about spicy sex revelations from the two superstars, who never publicly admitted their homosexuality.

That takes care of Siegfried Fischbacher’s family in Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria.

His great-niece Jennifer to BILD: “We are concerned that producers in America could exploit the story, regardless of the truth. Siegfried and Roy were also afraid of that. They really wanted Nico Hofmann, a German producer, to make the film. We very much hope that it will still work out!”
