It’s no longer a surprise, but Ubisoft is going through a bad patch. After several cancellations, and several delays, especially around the pirate game Skull and Bones we no longer know on which foot to dance. Skull and Bones, finally a bit of sunshine?
It was during the presentation of Ubisoft’s latest quarterly accounts that the publisher played the game of a question and answer session with the specialized press. Inevitably, the subject of (legitimate) concerns about Skull and Bones came to the mat. As a result, CFO Frederick Duguet wanted to be reassuring. In particular, he specified that the playtest organized last month was very satisfactory and that the studio now has a version that has been “very solid improvements” to show to players who haven’t seen it yet. Unfortunately, we don’t know the nature of the improvements. According to rumors, the on-foot phases weren’t convincing for a long time, so we can bet on it without getting too wet. changes in the right direction at this level.
What to expect ?
It remains to be seen now when Ubisoft will decide to show more details Skull and Bones to the public, especially via long gameplay sessions that could reassure everyone. On our side, the last time we were able to see the game was in July 2022 via a preview. At the time we were able to appreciate certain qualities of the title, in particular the promise of freedom. Many elements have since changed and the current state has nothing to do with last year’s demo.
