Last week, we told you about a possible meeting that would have taken place between Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony and Margrethe Vestager, the head of the fight against antitrust of the European Union. These “secret” meetings are a lot of talk and the rumors, continuing to circulate, did not fail to react to the pillars of Microsoft.

Microsoft communications chief strongly denies Sony claims

Indeed, it was Frank X. Shaw who spoke openly about the recent rapprochements between Sony and the European Commission. Beyond these meetings, new rumors tell us that Sony would affirm to the European authorities that Microsoft would have no desire to offer the Call of Duty license on other platforms.

Faced with this, Shaw reaffirmed Microsoft’s motives in a Twitter thread, recalling that the comments made by Sony were only lies and that the Redmond firm had repeatedly offered a 10-year agreement on this subject. The arguments remain the same and whether Microsoft likes it or not, depriving itself of the PlayStation market with Call of Duty would be quite counterproductive given the targeted audience.

From now on, it is the objections of the CMA (UK) and the European Commission which are still expected shortly after the examination of the Microsoft file.

I heard that Sony is telling people in Brussels that Microsoft doesn’t want to give them parity for Call of Duty if we acquire Activision.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

We made it clear that we offered Sony a 10-year deal to give them parity on timing, content, features, quality, gameplay and every other aspect of the game.

We have also indicated that we would be happy to make this agreement enforceable through contract, regulatory agreements or other means.

Sony is the console market leader and it would be illogical for us to exclude PlayStation gamers from the Call of Duty ecosystem.

Our goal is to bring Call of Duty and other games – like we’ve done with Minecraft – within reach of more people around the world, so they can play them where and how they want. wish.
