Las Vegas expects 5th straight day of temperatures above 115 degrees Fahrenheit

MIAMI.– Residents of South Florida can expect a relatively calm rest of the week, with temperatures close to normal for the season and light rain. However, the situation could change over the weekend.

Weather experts attribute the current stability to high pressure over the Atlantic Ocean, which generates an easterly/southeasterly breeze and moderate levels of humidity. This pattern is typical of summer, according to weather measurement patterns.

On Wednesday, scattered showers are expected in the morning and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon in parts of South Florida.

Meanwhile, stronger breezes from the east are forecast to lead to afternoon storms on the west coast of Florida.

However, southeasterly breezes on Thursday and Friday are expected to bring rain and storms toward the metropolitan area, mainly in parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Temperatures will remain in the low to mid 90s through the week, with wind chills peaking between 100 and 105°F.

Weekend

However, the weekend is expected to bring some changes. The return of Saharan dust from Saturday is expected to bring hazy skies and moderate air quality.

The dust will linger at least until early next week, experts say.

Another big change is the increased chance of rain. Despite the dust, tropical moisture is expected to move south into Florida, especially on Sunday and Monday. This will contribute to a reduced risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

According to weather experts, rain activity will be more likely during the morning and midday hours.

The Atlantic basin is expected to remain calm for at least the next week, according to weather models.
