In 2012, The Walt Disney Company acquired George Lucas’ film company, including the rights to Star Wars, for a whopping $4 billion. Since then, the Mickey Mouse group has been delighting fans of the star saga regularly with new series and (soon again) cinema films. It is often overlooked that numerous novels about the galaxy far, far away also played a major role in the Star Wars universe play. A legendary villain and an absolute fan favorite of the official Star Wars books will soon be making its live-action debut on Disney Plus.

New Star Wars series Ahsoka: This is the villain

The American Timothy Zahn is considered one of the most important authors of official Star Wars novels. With the Thrawn trilogy the sci-fi author created three timeless classics set several years after the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. In it, the workings of the imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn illuminated.

Because the books already 1991 to 1993 appeared long before Disney took over, but they are no longer part of the current canon of the star saga. Due to Thrawn’s great popularity, however, it was decided to include the character in the Disney timeline as well. In addition to the prequel trilogy written by Timothy Zahn about the future Grand Admiral, the charismatic villain also appeared in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, to the delight of many fans.

In the new real-life series Star Wars: Ahsoka, Mitth’raw’nuruodo, as Thrawn’s real name is, will make his live-action debut. He is embodied by the actor who already lent his voice to him in Rebels. It is about the Danish character actor Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen. He is the older brother of Mads Mikkelsen, who played Imperial scientist Galen Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

This is how the creator of Thrawn feels about the real version

Thrawn creators Timothy Zahn commented on the live-action version of his character during a fan festival. Basically “there is no difference between which original Thrawn and the version of the new timeline.” The writer continues, “There’s a risk the screenwriters will mess it up.” However, Showrunner would have Dave Filoni already prove in Rebels that he understands the character. “So I think everything will be fine as long as Filoni and Jon Favreau are in charge.”

About the Thrawn cast member Lars Mikelsen the science fiction author really gets into raptures. “He’s the perfect cast.” Although the Dane speaks without an accent, his voice gives the character something strange and extraterrestrial. “He did a wonderful job”. Star Wars: Ahsoka will be released in August 2023 DisneyPlus and then ready to stream.
