This fiber enables the production of cables with the smallest possible diameters and the highest fiber densities. STL presented today at the FTTH Conference 2023 in Madrid, Spain, with a next-generation microcable 288 fibers that can be inserted into 8 mm channels. This high density micro cable offers operators and installers the best of both worlds. Measuring just 180 microns in diameter, G657 A2 fiber combines bend-insensitive properties with a fully backwards-compatible cable design, resulting in a “ready to use” Innovation in the optical industry power.
As service providers densify the network with more fiber, duct space becomes a precious commodity. Here, STL’s high-density micro-cable will help operators pack more capacity into limited channel space, reducing costs and deployment times.
