In an international operation, the Misiones Police and Paraguayan authorities recovered a Toyota Hilux van stolen in a violent assault in San Pedro.

As detailed by spokesmen for the provincial force, the robbery occurred after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, when a couple of 53 and 57 years old returned to their home located at kilometer 1067 of national route 14; there they were approached by three men.

The gang pointed weapons at them and took money and items from the home’s security system.

After that, they made the couple travel several kilometers with them in the stolen vehicle, making them descend on a dirt road in the town of Santiago de Liniers.

Once the Police became aware of the fact, a search and capture operation began throughout the province. In addition, with the monitoring through the vehicle’s satellite geolocation system, it was established that it was deactivated in the vicinity of the Paraná River.

Then the international collaboration protocol between the security forces of neighboring countries was activated, receiving an immediate response, since yesterday a patrol from the tripartite command delegation of the Paraguayan Headquarters located and kidnapped the stolen vehicle in the town of Puerto Domingo Martinez de Irala.

Last night, and in compliance with the provisions of the Justice, both police officers were carrying out the legal procedures to re-enter the Toyota Hilux truck into the provincial territory.

The force continued last night with the investigations to find the culprits.
