Surprise visit of Charles III and Camilla to Scotland, two weeks before the coronation

The King and his wife were spotted last weekend at a restaurant in the town of Ballater, not far from Balmoral Castle.

An unofficial visit before the coronation festivities. King Charles III was seen last weekend with his wife Camilla outside a newly opened restaurant in the Scottish town of Ballater.

Onlookers were able to film this rare moment, where the couple was dressed casually. “We came across King Charles and Queen Camilla completely by chance,” said a passerby on Twitter. “It was so strange to see them just walking around.”

Not far from Balmoral Castle

This video, also published on TikTok, shows the king and queen chatting with the inhabitants of the city, and taking the time to answer them. Situated not from Balmoral Castle, the town is often visited by the royal couple.

Last October, Charles III and Camilla went there to thank the inhabitants who had taken part in the organization of the funeral of Elizabeth II.

This release comes two weeks before coronation of King Charles III. Organized at Westminster Abbey, this royal event will be held on May 6, nearly 70 years after the coronation of Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953.
