MIAMI.- The brand Swatch has been inspired by certain elements that make life on the planet Tierra to launch three new models of watches: Lava, Polar Lights and Desert.

“The three new non-limited models of the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission On Earth – Lava, Polar Lights and Desert – pay tribute to our magnificent planet and take their inspiration from three natural phenomena whose magical and fascinating beauty can be clearly seen from space: volcanic lava, the Northern Lights and deserts. For these watches, Swatch has developed three completely new Bioceramic colours,” the Swiss firm detailed in a statement.

Bioceramic MoonSwatch Lava

The Lava model is inspired by volcanoes and openings in the Earth’s crust through which ash, gas and lava emerge. Looking for the elements of magma to carry the red and orange tones in the piece.

“The Bioceramic MoonSwatch Lava is a nod to Omega and its 1968 Speedmaster Moonwatch Ultraman model, featuring its famous orange chronograph seconds hand,” Swatch said.

Bioceramic MoonSwatch Polar Lights

The Polar Lights pays tribute to the phenomenon of the northern lights. Visible from space and of extraordinary beauty, these luminous atmospheric sheets often dye the night sky green and blue. For this reason, turquoise predominates in this watch, a tone that recalls the display of colors in the sky that can be observed at the North Pole. Additionally, the blue dial of this model is dotted with tiny silver sparkles inspired by the aventurine crystal dials also found in other Omega watches.

“The arrangement of the stars is different on each model, making each watch’s dial unique. The numbers and indices on the three subdials use the radial format, just like Omega’s Alaska II and III Speedmaster projects,” the Swiss brand stressed.

Bioceramic MoonSwatch Desert

Desert is a watch that combines the sand color of its case and hands with the greige (mole) on its dial and strap, a tone that is intended to evoke the vast expanses of sand that cover more than a fifth of the Earth’s mass and are common on all continents.

These three new Bioceramic MoonSwatch models also feature a motivational phrase on the case back, as well as the Omega X Swatch logos on the dial and crown. They also feature an image of the planet Earth on the battery cover.

Its adjustable Velcro strap is designed to be easy to handle in space suits and adds a finishing touch of glamour cosmonautical thanks to its stitching in the same color as the respective watch cases.

The hands and indices of this collection are coated with Grade A Super-LumiNova and glow precisely in the dark.

“All the features of the original Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, the first watch to travel to the Moon, are repeated in these watches: its asymmetrical case, the renowned tachymetric scale with the dot at 90 and the typical Speedmaster subdials. In addition, as with all other Bioceramic MoonSwatch, these new watches feature a chronograph function,” Swatch described.

The three new Bioceramic MoonSwatch watches are available for purchase in selected Swatch stores only.
