It’s time for insiders of the Windows 11 previews to install new updates on their systems. Microsoft released since alongside the new Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25281 in the dev channel also the two Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds 22621.1180 and 22623.1180 in the Beta Channel. In the former (i.e. Build 25281) tabs in Notepad windows are now possible. This means that multiple files can be created, managed and organized in a single Notepad window. Individual tabs can be dragged into their own window if you prefer to work as before. Both options can be defined as default in the settings.

In addition, Windows Spotlight will also be modernized. Windows Spotlight is a feature in Windows 11 that shows the user automatically changing wallpapers on the lock screen. These images can contain, for example, landscapes, cities or cultural sights and are selected by Microsoft. There is also an option to use the displayed image as wallpaper on the home screen or desktop. With Build 25281, people are now starting to try out different variants for the appearance of Spotlight. Here, for example, more attention should be paid to the display of the title and description, and there is also more information about the image displayed on the desktop. Also try different ways to switch to different images with thumbnails, a full screen view and a minimized view. However, these innovations should only be displayed for English-speaking users for the time being.

the two other builds, which you can now get in the beta channel, will of course also have a few new features. For example, the Settings app now supports new visuals on the Accounts page to provide a visual overview of cloud storage usage across Microsoft products. Among other things, you get a consolidated cloud storage bar that shows the storage usage for each product and notifies you when storage space is running low. In addition, with the new build, Outlook attachments are also saved in the cloud storage.

Also new is that you no longer have to register for the widget board and you no longer have to register with your account to use it. From now on, all users can receive weather updates on the taskbar, pin widgets from their favorite apps or access personalized dynamic feeds without having an account:
