Taylor Swift inspires US women's water polo team at Paris 2024

PARIS.- Maggie Steffens and the women’s water polo team USA They hope to follow in the footsteps of Taylor Swift in the Paris Olympic Games.

Steffens and her teammates attended one of Swift’s Eras tour concerts at the Arena La Défense in Paris in May. The final three rounds of the men’s and women’s water polo tournaments will be held at the same venue.

The U.S. women’s team is going for its fourth consecutive gold medal at the Summer Games.

Inspiration

“We talked about it after (the concert),” Steffens said Wednesday.

“We had a team meeting that if we get the chance to play at Arena La Défense, we want to be like her. We want to be able to love the pressure and be able to perform and have fun and enjoy that moment and make the most of it.”

Team USA received tickets to see Swift after the women’s national team manager, Ally Beck, contacted the singer-songwriter’s representatives.

Flavor Flav, the rap icon who signed on this year as a promotional officer for USA Water Polo, also made a request on behalf of the team but said the tickets had already been approved.

“Even though she’s a tough, powerful woman, for us to be able to see that in person was pretty magical,” Steffens said.
