It’s been over 40 years since the last season of the British comedy series aired and not many thought it would ever be revived, but now it’s confirmed, via Deadline that there will be a reboot. Also starring John Cleese in his iconic role as Basil Fawlty. He will also write the screenplay, together with his daughter Camilla.
Anyone who was there when it started will of course remember John’s overdramatic, cynical and slightly misanthropic character, Basil. He had difficulty adapting to society even then and now he must try to fit into modern times, with all that that entails. Not much information has been released when it comes to the story, but Basil should have found out that he has a daughter and now they will try to run a small boutique hotel together.
John Cleese will work with Rob Reiner’s production company, Castle Rock and this is what Reiner says about why he has chosen to jump on the project: “John Cleese is a comedy legend. Just the idea of working with him makes me laugh.”
There is currently no premiere date or information about where the series will land once it is produced.
