“Gamer, one more life”, series of comedy available on Flowplunges into the world of e-sports through the story of a recently separated forty-something man in the midst of a personal crisis who tries to recover a glorious past in which he was a legend of videogames in the cyber era, with the idea of laughing “with the ‘gamers ‘ and not theirs.”
The creator and director of the series is Jonathan Barg, part of the production company Planta Alta and a participant in praised series such as “Cumbia nena”, “Broder”, “Clorofilia” and “Pepper, all for a like”.
What is Gamer about, one more life
The plot of “Gamer”, a co-production with the Ministry of Culture of the Nation and the Ministry of Media and Public Communication after winning the Renacer Audiovisual contest, follows Oscar (Nicolás García Hume), who in a bad moment of his life he seeks to reconnect with his golden years through what he did best.
Two decades ago he was one of those video game cracks who gathered spectators around his cubicle in Fénix, the cyberspace where he worked and played. Back in touch with keyboard and mouse commands, he realizes that he is just as good as before, but the environment has changed..
Now “gamers” can be professionals and play championships for a lot of money, and the tremendous generational clash will hit particularly when he joins the Warriors, the e-sports team made up of two girls and a boy who are old enough to be his children.
With eight episodes of between 20 and 30 minutes, the proposal takes advantage of the comic gifts of the Paraguayan Garcia Humewhich comes from successes in more dramatic roles, such as in “El reino” or “El Tigre Verón”, and focuses more on the links than on the peculiarities of the e-sports aces (as it did, in a operation that was more mocking, the American series anchored in that same panorama, “Players”).

Disoriented and crushed by his circumstances in life, Oscar earns -not without initial reluctance- a place in the Warriors, who see in him “an old bald man” who cannot attract followers in networks but can be the piece that was missing to aspire to win titles.
Together with him, the cast features Charo López, Rocío Hernández, Yamila Ostrower, Francisco Bereny and the special participation of Martín Slipak, who plays the antagonist of the story, an old acquaintance of Oscar’s who became an electronic sports figure.
