The Havana native who aspires to be Miss Universe Cuba 2024

Rosmeri Diaz She is a 27-year-old girl, originally from San Miguel del Padrón, Havana, and is determined to become Cuba’s representative in the Miss Universe 2024 beauty pageant.

This young woman from Havana currently resides in Lehigh, Florida and is among the 20 finalists who compete for the title of Miss Universe CubaShe appears optimistic and confident about her abilities in the world of modeling and could have opportunities to win the coveted crown.

Since her arrival in the United States after an arduous immigration journey, she has been preparing for this beauty pageant. The qualifiers will be held in Miami on September 15 and will be the crucial step to represent the island at the international Miss Universe gala in November, in Mexico.

“Despite the nervousness, I feel that I have achieved a lot in this world that I am so passionate about,” said the young woman in a recent interview with Marti News.

“In Cuba, I attended the JJ Cuban Traditional Dance Company academy under the direction of Johannes García,” she said, highlighting her experience performing at the Teatro América and the Karl Marx.

Rosmeri’s life has been a series of challenges and overcomings. In 2018, she emigrated with her father to Guyana, beginning a complicated journey through Latin America.

“It was a very hard four-day journey to get to Uruguay,” she recalled. There she worked in various jobs until she met her husband, which facilitated her arrival in the United States in 2021.

Rosmeri firmly believes that beauty lies not only in physical appearance, but in values ​​and life experiences.

“Your values ​​as a human being and what you have learned throughout your life are what you must demonstrate every day,” he said.

In the Miss Universe Cuba pageant, this year More than 500 women participated in the competition of Cuban origin. There were no restrictions on age, marital status, height or body measurements, to give an inclusive opportunity to all participants.

The young model maintains a strict diet and exercise routine to ensure her health and well-being, but claims that 80 percent of her results are due to a balanced diet.

Rosmeri has not lost contact with her friends and family in Cuba, who constantly support her. “If I have the opportunity to enter the ‘top 20’, I promise to represent my friends, all Cubans and my people with all my heart,” she said.

Since 1960, Cuba has not participated in the Miss Universe pageant due to bans imposed by the regime. Rosmeri Díaz seeks to change this history and represent her country with pride and dedication.

“I want the whole world to know what we Cubans are made of and the strength we have,” she said excitedly.
