The most expensive renewal in history: 186 million for three years

Anthony Davis agreed this Friday with the Los Angeles Lakers a contract extension for three years and $186 million (about 168.9 million euros), the highest ever in the NBA, reported the player’s agent, rich pauHe, to the ESPN network.

Davis, 30, had contract in effect with the Lakers until 2025 and he extended it for three seasons, until 2028, in exchange for 62 million for each of them, a record amount in the American league.

The pvot wing receive a total of 270 million dollars until the expiration of his relationship with the Los Angeles franchise, with which he was NBA champion in 2020 in the Orlando bubble. Davis averaged 25.9 points and 12.5 rebounds per game last year, but he only played 56 games due to injuries. In the 2021-2022 academic year, when the Lakers did not qualify for the postseason, he played 40 games and the previous one did not exceed 36.
