We will have his new album at the end of this month of April, but The National brings us one more preview to add excitement to the days to come. The band just shared the song “Your Mind Is Not Your Friend”, and he does it in collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers.
This is the last song that the group led by Matt Berninger shares prior to the release of the album First Two Pages of Frankensteinwith which they will break an absence of four.

But now it’s time to get into this new topic of The National llamado “Your Mind Is Not Your Friend”, in which Matt Berninger explores how tangled and deceptive the mind can be, to the point of lead us to the most overwhelming of our own thoughts.
According to a statement, the song was born during a period in which Berninger was going through a creative block. That’s how he read the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for inspiration. “The book begins with the narrator on a journey near the Arctic Circle, and that image of being adrift helped me write about the feeling of disconnection, loss and lack of purpose“Matt said.
Phoebe Bridgers –who recently released an album with boygenius– collaborates with The National on “Your Mind Is Not Your Friend”, this being a very special role for the singer and the band. Phoebe’s brother Jackson Bridgers, directs the videowhile Matt’s brother, Tom Berninger, acts alongside the vocalist in this installment. Here the official video clip.
The National lanzará ‘First Two Pages of Frankenstein’
As we said, The National brings us “Your Mind Is Not Your Friend” as the last single before the release of the album. First Two Pages of Frankenstein. The album also features collaborations from Sufjan Stevens and Taylor Swift, and will be released on April 28.
