The new Netflix seriesThe Witcher: Blood Originwe began exploring 1200 years into the past of the main Witcher series, where there were bound to be some unexpected tethers in the current timeline, and in fact there already were.
Since, in addition to Dandelion’s involvement, there were some big reveals uncovered in the Witcher’s prototype story, and one of those revelations was the surprising connection between geralt Y Ciri thanks to the relationship between Eile and Fjall.

You see, when we get to the final episode, we find out that eile she’s pregnant and was Fjall’s son, and since Fjall ended up going through the tortuous process of becoming the prototype Witcher that would lead to Trial of the Grasses and subsequently Witchers like Geralt in the future. So when Eile and fjall they became intimate after that process, imbuing their son with both sets of genes.
Ithlinne gives her prophecy by touching Eile’s stomach, joking about how it leads to Ciri and the ancient blood it contains. This also relates to the show’s title, Blood Originand therefore our interesting connection, since Ciri and Geralt are descendants of the same bloodline.
So while this wouldn’t necessarily make them directly related, it could make them distantly related, and means they share much of the same monster DNA and some of the same genes.
The Trial of the Grasses would continue to evolve and iterate over time, and in later versions, those who undertake the process are barren as they proceed. That wasn’t the case with Fjall though, so the process and effects aren’t what they would ultimately become.
It will also be interesting to see if this continues into The Witcher season 3, as neither Geralt nor Ciri knew this when we left them in season 2. This could be a key plot point, or it could be something interesting to consider as the fans are following his journey, but either way, we’ll have to wait and see what turns out.
