Mexico City.- The Unid@s group of organizations sued the Va por México coalition to take into account the opinion of the citizenry to define the candidacies for 2024.
He announced that in the coming weeks he will present a candidate selection method, to put it to the consideration of the political parties.
“The organizations that make up Unid@s celebrate the coalition announcement made by the PAN, PRI and PRD for the 2023 elections in the State of Mexico and Coahuila, as well as for the presidential, state, municipal and federal senator and deputy elections 2024,” the organization said.
He supported the eventual candidacies of Alejandra del Moral in the State of Mexico and Manolo Jiménez in Coahuila by the Va por México coalition.
He noted that the coalition’s victories in 2023 should be a precursor to next year’s electoral victories.
“Although we welcome the announcement for the 2024 elections, we ask those three parties and other political forces to make an additional effort to broaden the coalition in order to confront the ruling party.
“We believe it is essential that the coalition parties take into account the opinion of the citizenry. These candidacies should not be the product of leadership arrangements, they must be legitimized in the widest possible way. Only this legitimacy will give these candidacies the necessary competitiveness to win.” , indicates a pronouncement issued by Unid@s.
He informed that a technical committee is developing the proposals for the candidate selection method, to put it to the consideration not only of the political parties, but also of the general public.
“Our commitment to democracy must be complete and the coalition candidates must be elected by an open and democratic path,” said the group formed by the National Civic Front, Citizen Power, Yes for Mexico, Mexico Civil Society, Unite Mexico and United for Mexico.
The text adds that in order to confront the “bad government” and improve the course of Mexico, the sum of forces is essential.
He affirms that the authoritarian, anti-democratic and abusive drift of the party in power is evident, for which reason “the greatest possible unity will be required to defeat them in the elections of the coming year.
“We make a new call for the unity of all the progressive and democratic forces of Mexico -partisans and citizens- to achieve resounding victories in 2024,” he said.
